In this painting, Mary takes a moment to rest on the journey to Bethlehem as an angel delights in listening to the baby Jesus inside her womb. Joseph tends to the donkey in the distance, watching over his wife and Savior-child who will arrive in mere days.
This painting came from a personal prayer experience in which I was sharing with the Lord an area of hopelessness. The Blessed Mother came to me and invited me to listen to her womb. The answer to my despair and sadness was found in the little baby hidden inside - Jesus Christ. As I laid my head on her belly, I was filled with a peaceful warmth. No words were necessary, only Jesus. This painting is for anyone waiting for a miracle. No matter how empty your life feels, God is growing something new within you. Ask Mary to teach you how to see and ponder it.
