About Mattie Karr

The Story

My name is Mattie, and I’m blessed to be able to paint sacred art and live wedding paintings. It’s the perfect intersection of my two passions, painting and evangelization.

From a young age, I always wanted to go on an epic adventure (to Narnia, preferably). In my college years, I thought this epic adventure would take me to Hollywood working in the animation and film industry. So I got dual degrees in Illustration and Film at KU.

But adventures (especially with God) are never straightforward. I spent a few years in the corporate world after college, doing business development and sales when I finally heard it.

The call.

In July of 2022 during a summer intensive with Encounter School of Ministry, God asked me to take a big leap of faith and make an offering of my artistic gifts and talents to Him.

I was to become a full time artist.

At the time, I had no idea that this call was more than an invitation to paint pretty pictures, but an invitation to communicate His specific love to you.

I’ve learned how important it is to really listen to your story and what you need from God.

I’ve learned how important it is to begin each painting in prayer and invite the Holy Spirit into every color and brushstroke so the image is appealing and engaging for you to look at.

I’ve learned just how important it is that you receive not just a pretty painting, but an icon that encourages and enriches you for the rest of your life.

Your story and your relationship with God is worth it.

I want you to rest easy and have complete peace of mind, knowing that your piece of art will be developed and painted by someone who walks daily with Christ, who has spent 10+ years honing her skills and talents, and who is excited to get to know you and you story.

Whether you commission me for a live wedding painting, a family portrait, or a piece of sacred art, I will be a resource, an intercessor, and I hope, your friend.
