September 2023 Art Update

Off the Easel!

Here are all the cool projects I was able to finish this month! Which one’s your favorite?

Slay Your Dragons

Elizabeth has always loved this quote so this image was perfect for her birthday!

“If you have to fight a dragon, you should go to its lair before it comes to your village”

-Jordan Peterson

Isaac, One Who Laughs

I was honored to draw this picture for a family who tragically lost their baby boy to an illness. I pray that this image brings them comfort that he is in the hands of Jesus Christ.

Let the Little Children Come to Me

This painting is for a family going through a difficult and wounding time. These children’s mother wanted to commission an image to serve as a comforting reminder of Jesus’ love and comfort for them as they grow older and heal.

On the Easel

These paintings are just beginning or reaching the end! Currently in progress!

St. Mary’s Bicentennial

A painting to celebrate 200 years of St. Mary’s parish in Independence, MO

The Hodes’ Grotto

In the backyard of my client’s home sits a Mary grotto where she hosts a weekly rosary group. Many miracles have come from this group - I’m excited to work on a painting to commemorate this!

Studio Mural

These red walls have been screaming at me to cover them. My goal is to create an impressionistic flower mural that doesn’t distract from the paintings I do.

St. Gabriel

Before these triptychs go up, I knew I needed to make some adjustments to Gabriel. It was a beautiful experience painting in the empty church with the Blessed Sacrament in the tabernacle.

It’s been a full month! We’re headed into the season of “holy days and holidays” and I couldn’t be more excited for the projects on deck. I’m so grateful to you all for continuing to buy prints, spread my name, and send me kind words.

God Bless You!

-Mattie
