This drawing depicts the moment when the resurrected Jesus comes to St. Thomas, who - drowning in grief - exclaimed “Unless I see the mark of the nails in his hands and put my finger into the nailmarks and put my hand into his side, I will not believe.”

In this moment, Thomas’ blindness to the Gospel of Life is restored as Jesus gives Himself to him, and Thomas to Him in return. The gold represents the holiness and sanctification that we receive when we put our wounds into Jesus’ wounds. I pray this portrait gives you the courage and permission to have this intimacy with Him in your woundedness.
